Indication : Why is this medication prescribed?

Gram positive and gram-negative bacteria and anaerobes including activity against (MRSA), Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, Haemophilus influenzae and Neisseria gonorrhoeae and multidrug resistant strains of Acinetobacter baumannii. The New Delhi metallo-b-lactamase multidrug resistant Enterobacterioaceae has also shown susceptibility to tigecycline. Skin and soft tissue infections as well as complicated intra abdominal infections.

Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?

Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient
Hypersensitivity.

Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication

Renal and hepatic diseases. Anaphylaxis/Anaphylactoid reactions. Pneumonia, photosensitivity, pseudotumor cerebri, pancreatitis, azotaemia, acidosis and hyperphosphataemia. Pregnancy.

What are possible side effects of this medication ?

Diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting, dizziness, phelbitis, elevated (AST) and (ALT), pruritis, rash, headache, pseudomembranous colitis. Increased or decreased heart rate and secondary infections.
