Indication : Why is this medication prescribed?

Amenorrhoea and infertility. Hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism in males. Cryptorchism. To aid in vitro fertilization.

Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?

Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient
Hypersensitivity. Hormone dependent malignancies (prostate, breast). Pituitary or ovarian tumour. Prostate carcinoma or androgen dependent neoplasms. Ovarian dys-genesis, absent uterus. Premature menopause. Tubal occulusion.

Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome - Polycystic ovary. Precocious puberty. fluid retention is males.

What are possible side effects of this medication ?

Allergic reactions, headache, mental depression, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, gynaecomastia, Pain in lower abdomen and even ovarian bleeding and shock can occur in females.
