It is also used in the treatment of Active polyarticular-course juveline chronic arthritis refractive to methotrexate, active and progressive psoratic arthiritis or severe acute and ankylosing spondylitis refractory to routine treatment.
Contraindication: What are the special precautions to be followed?
Under following conditions, use of this medication is inadvisable. Its use should be withhold as it would cause harm to the patient Sepsis or risk of sepsis, active infection. Pregnancy (ensure adequate contraception). Lactation. Concurrent cyclophosphamide therapy. Live vaccines.
Other Precaution to be observed while taking this medication
History of recurrent infection or tuberculosis. Immunosuppression.
What are possible side effects of this medication ?
Serious bacterial infections. Reactivation of acute and chronic bacterial/fungal/viral infection. Worsening of CHF. Adverse skin reactions. CNS demyellinating disorders Including multiple sclerosis and optic neuritis. SLE like syndrome.
